Kinda weird that it says they formed in 1996 but didn't release anything until 2005. They're heavily influenced by it and they've done Mutiilation and Belketre covers, and apparently their logo on the full-length was created by Vordb of Belketre, with him also providing the intro track for their first demo. Perhaps they're more of a sort of tribute band to the LLN then? With further reading, I think that must just be it. As far as I remmeber the LLN had already split up just before the new millennium. They have ties to it in some way that I'm not exactly certain of.īut seeing the band started in 2005, they moved after LLN had already ceased to exist. I'm quite uncertain if they were actually part of it, but they did move to France from Japan to be in that scene I'm pretty sure. Isn't Arkha Sva at least rumormed to be affiliated with LLN? If so, I think their full-length is really good and worth checking out. Some of the bands and solo projects involved were Akon Ktrh, Amaka Hahina, Belktre, Brenoritvrezorkre, Black Murder, Movt, Mtiilation. That was supposedly the year they disbanded. The detailed discography of The Black Legions (also known as Les Lgions Noires, or abbreviated to LLN), an underground musical movement active in France in the years 1993-1997. As a general rule, bands formed after 1998 shouldn't be considered LLN.

After releasing a number of demos (and some Full lengths) of raw, traditional black metal many of these bands faded away, leaving a bit of mystery in their wake. “Holy Deception” and “In Hell I Burn” give you the feeling of being hoisted on the shoulders of an immense pillaging army as it rolls across borders in all-consuming thirst for total conquest.Thought I would try to make a thread on the infamous and obscured Les Legions Noires (The Black Legions), which is one of the more highly thought of groups of Black Metal musicians to have come together during the BM explosion in the early 90's.īands such as Mutiilation, Vlad Tepes, Torgeist, Brenoritvrezorkre, Belketre, Aäkon Këëtrëh, and many more made up the ranks of Les Legions Noires. While Legion contains a wide arsenal of rhythmic attacks, the album is at its best when the band are cruising along on the thrumming, militaristic double-bass work of drummer Steve Asheim. The most suitable word is “bracing”: the songs enter your being and thrash it around from the inside. While technically overwhelming, the music doesn’t feel the least bit distant. Its songs contain so many rhythmic shifts that the group members later admitted it was nearly impossible to recreate any of the songs in concert (except for “Dead but Dreaming,” which became a staple of their live set). Though it may be compact, this album is the most musically demanding statement of the band’s career. “With only eight songs that finish in a total span of less than 30 minutes, Deicide’s sophomore album, Legion, is impressively but deceptively concise. This album has aged tremendously well and the 30th anniversary is nearing for this death metal masterpiece. I also think the complex songwriting had a lot to do with it as well. ‘Legion’ was ahead of its time, in my opinion. It’s not that they didn’t like it I think they expected an album that sounded like their first. A lot of my metalhead friends didn’t really like it much at first. I was anxiously awaiting its release because I was so blown away by their first album. I fucking loved ‘Legion’ when I first listened to it back in 1992.
